From September 2020, it will be compulsory for all primary schools to deliver universal coverage of “Relationships Education” as part of their curriculum (see Children and Social Work Act 2017).
The PSHE Modelling Programme, involving two chosen members of teaching staff, is structured as follows:
An initial meeting with senior leaders to agree a curriculum focus, resourcing, policy familiarisation and initial planning.
- Lesson 1 – delivered (to students) by the Services For Education Adviser, followed by a feedback discussion and joint planning of lesson 2 with the two chosen teachers
- Lesson 2 – co-delivered by the Services For Education Adviser and the teacher, followed by a feedback discussion and joint planning of lesson 3
- Lesson 3 – delivered by the class teacher and observed by the Services For Education Adviser, followed by a feedback discussion and notes for future reference and support provided.
