Services For Education is a growing children’s charity in Birmingham. We use the power of learning and music to improve outcomes for children, young people and communities. Our diverse charitable projects support disadvantaged and vulnerable children, children in care, children and adults with additional needs (including mld, sld, pmld, asd) and adults who are at risk of isolation and loneliness. By joining our team, you would be helping to change the lives of so many people in Birmingham.

OVERVIEW

Are you a passionate Steel Pan teacher dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich cultural heritage of the steel pan across Birmingham schools?

Services For Education is seeking an enthusiastic music educator to inspire young musicians through the vibrant art of steel pan performance. Born out of Trinidad and Tobago’s rich musical tradition, the steel pan holds a unique place in global music education. We are looking for an educator who can share both the technical skill and the rich history of this extraordinary instrument. Can you bring Caribbean cultural history into the classroom, teaching students about the instrument’s origin, the ‘engine room’ rhythm section, and various musical styles (Calypso, Soca, Pop, and Classical)?

What We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from teachers with experience in any of the following:

  • Small group and 1:1 instrumental tuition
  • Whole-class instrumental teaching (WCIT)
  • Ensemble direction and leading groups
  • working with children with additional needs.
