By the end of the session, colleagues will have developed their understanding / skills in the following areas:

  • Articulate the educational, social, and community benefits of music performance for pupils across different key stages.
    Understand how school music performances contribute to whole-child development, including confidence, teamwork, self-motivation and creativity.
  • Explore the role of performance in building school culture, community engagement and pupil voice.
  • Identify strategies to plan inclusive, high-quality music performance opportunities, regardless of school context or budget.
  • Reflect on how performance supports progression in musical learning and links to curriculum aims (e.g., listening, appraisal, and composition skills).
  • Gain confidence in advocating for music performance as a vital part of a broad and balanced curriculum.

This session will be delivered by Marie Lowndes-Ford – Director of Music at Lordswood Boys’ School.
