This session will be led by Jo King, Head of Music, Marie Lowndes-Ford, Director of Music and Arts Education, and Sarah Andrews, Subject Lead of Music.

By the end of this session, secondary music teachers will be able to:

• Recognise common barriers to participation and progress in secondary music classrooms.
• Apply practical, evidence-informed strategies to support inclusive music teaching.
• Adapt classroom, instrumental and ensemble activities to meet a diverse range of learner needs.
• Respond confidently to realistic classroom scenarios using inclusive teaching approaches.
• Modify resources and musical tasks while maintaining high expectations for all students.
• Plan lessons that promote meaningful participation, musical achievement and student confidence.
• Evaluate their own practice and identify practical actions to strengthen inclusive provision.
• Take away adaptable activities and resources that can be implemented immediately across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Please bring an instrument, as the session will include practical music-making throughout.
