Whole Class Instrumental Teaching (WCIT)

The Music Service started this innovative programme in 2004 in just 7 classes and has now expanded to 387 classes. The Government’s National Plan for Music Education has Whole Class Instrumental Teaching as a core requirement.

We now deliver this to more than 11,360 pupils every week with continuation rates of over 34% into year 5. Inclusion, progression and legacy remain core educational values of this delivery.

The programme, primarily intended to develop new opportunities for pupils to learn musical instruments, has demonstrated a much wider impact on all areas of pupils’ learning.

These sessions cost £1300 per year (subsidised through ACE funding).

NB: we are currently at capacity for WCIT but by “ordering” you will be added to a waiting list and we will be in touch as soon as a slot becomes available.
