National #ThankYouDay (Thank You Day 2024) in July is an opportunity to join millions of people across the UK to celebrate and give thanks to people that go above and beyond.
As a charity, Services For Education has much to be thankful for, including our many supporters and funders, without whom much of our work would not be possible. Whether a supporter donates just once, or sets up a regular donation, their support helps us continue to do the work we do, bringing opportunities to engage in music to people across the city. For example, did you know our Community Choir and Birmingham Inclusive Choir both run thanks to fundraising efforts?
Without donations from several Trusts and Foundations, our young musicians wouldn’t have the opportunities they do, including free instrument loan and tuition to on-stage performances in recognised venues, not only developing their musical talent and passion but also experiences they can take forward with them. Similarly, our SEND groups wouldn’t have accessible and supportive sessions where they can take part in music making activities, developing their communication and interaction levels.
As well as people who donate money to our projects, we also have people who support us through volunteering at our events. As a small charity with a small team, this support is valuable in helping us engage with our supporters in new ways, raising awareness of and support for SFE as a charity. We also appreciate the support we receive from businesses who donate products and services that we can use through our fundraising efforts, such as raffle prizes.
Sharon Bell, Chief Executive of SFE says “As a charity, we depend on the support of many individuals, whether through donations to our cause or by volunteering and participating in our events. Without this support, much of the work we do would not be achievable. We are grateful for the support we receive every day but National Thank You Day allows us to unite with others across the country in saying thank you to those who support them. On behalf of everyone supported by SFE, staff and participants, I extend heartfelt thanks to our donors, funders, and supporters for their ongoing support.”
Not only do we want to say thank you to our supporters, but also to our young musicians who, as part of our Music Ensembles across the city, whose hard work and commitment in their lessons and performances makes us and themselves proud of their efforts. We also need to thank our wonderful team of staff who keep the business running and keep music playing across the City. Without them, our young musicians wouldn’t have the opportunities they do.
So, on this year’s National #ThankYouDay, a big thank you to everyone who supports SFE, in whatever way that is, in our ongoing work to bring music to life for people across Birmingham.
