Registration is now open for our FREE SFE Area Ensembles.

Membership of our Area Ensembles is by registration and is open to young musicians in full time education who attend a Birmingham School or live within the city of Birmingham. They are open to players of all instruments from beginner to approximately Grade 3 standard.

Playing in a group is fun and SFE Area Ensembles introduce and develop techniques involved in performing in a group as well serving as an extension to weekly instrumental lessons greatly benefitting the development of playing skills generally.

Rehearsals take place on a weekly basis during term time with exciting performance opportunities in March at the Elgar Hall (University of Birmingham) and July at Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

They are open to players of all instruments from beginner to approximately Grade 3 standard.

Young musicians can join from the very earliest stages of their instrumental learning with the encouragement of their instrumental teacher.

In order for the group to achieve a high standard, it is important that children aim to attend all the rehearsals in any term, and it is essential that all members attend the termly concert.

Did you know that Services For Education is a charity?

Every year, we bring together nearly 4,000 young people from across Birmingham and form over 90 ensembles, specialising in a variety of instruments.

We do not charge for our ensembles because imposing a charge would create an immediate barrier for many families who would struggle to afford these costs but this is only sustainable with support from our donors.

We need your help to keep our ensembles going.

If you would like to support our Ensembles, please visit our charity project page here: Music Ensembles – Services For Education (sfecharity.co.uk).
