Description

This session will be led by Jo King, Head of Music, Marie Lowndes-Ford, Director of Music and Arts Education, and Sarah Andrews, Subject Lead of Music.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Explore effective approaches to curriculum planning for KS3 Music.
  • Consider the what, when, why and how of curriculum design to ensure purposeful learning and progression.
  • Sequence musical knowledge, skills and understanding to build confidence and long-term musical development.
  • Share and compare KS3 curriculum models with colleagues, discussing the rationale behind different approaches.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen progression from KS3 into KS4.
  • Leave with actionable next steps to enhance the coherence, ambition and impact of their KS3 music curriculum.

Please bring your current KS3 curriculum map and schemes of work to support collaborative discussion, curriculum planning and the sharing of effective practice.
