KS1 Writing Moderation and Training
With KS1 attainment reporting no longer being statutory, school leaders are being left in the unenviable position of having little external assurance that their writing attainment is accurate. By inviting our English Adviser to deliver KS1 writing moderation and training for your Y1 and/or Y2 class teachers, you will have ensured that measures have been put in place to maintain accuracy, and to create a solid benchmark.

Description
The full day moderation offer includes activities and training which will deepen attendees understanding of the end of KS1 writing expectations. The afternoon will be allocated for an opportunity to peer moderate each other’s work. Peer-to-peer moderation is a crucial activity to ensure the accuracy of your writing assessments and to allow your teachers to not only deepen their understanding of the in-year writing expectations, but to also develop their own skill in the articulation of these. In addition, at the Services For Education moderation, your teachers will have our English Adviser and KS1 assessment expert at hand to answer any queries and questions.
If a half day moderation is required, then the above sessions will be condensed so that the most important elements of the training and peer moderation are retained.

Emma has more than 20 years' experience in primary education and has worked in a variety of roles including Assistant Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher, and Acting Head Teacher - working at the forefront of school leadership and improvement for the majority of her career. Â
Emma now works as the Educational Adviser for English sharing her experience and knowledge to continually promote and improve the standard of teaching and learning in English, and in school improvement overall. Supporting schools with the accuracy of their KS1 and KS2 writing assessments is an important part of her role, using her expertise as a member for the moderation team to inform, train and support teachers and school leaders.Â
Emma is also part of the team which delivers the Health For Life programme (improving the healthy opportunities for primary aged children) and the NPQSL, where she proudly supports the development of our aspiring leaders in the city.Â
