Building Musicianship Through Composition is a practical CPD session for primary music teachers, delivered in partnership with colleagues from the Learning and Participation Team at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Through hands-on music-making, participants will explore creative approaches to composition that develop musicianship, confidence and musical understanding across the primary classroom.

Description

This session will be led by Claire Wilson, Music Lead at St Benedict’s Primary School and Learning and Participation Team from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Primary music teachers will:

  • Take part in practical composition activities that develop core musicianship skills.
  • Explore creative approaches to composing that can be adapted across the primary age range.
  • Experience strategies that build pupils’ confidence, creativity and musical understanding.
  • Reflect on how practical composition activities can support high-quality classroom music-making.
  • Leave with adaptable activities and resources ready to use in their own teaching.

Delivered in partnership with colleagues from the Learning and Participation Team at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
