Description

This session will be led by Jo King, Head of Music, Marie Lowndes-Ford, Director of Music and Arts Education, and Sarah Andrews Subject Lead of Music.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Explore effective ways to sequence performance, composition and listening skills across the KS4 curriculum.
  • Evaluate how curriculum design can support progression, confidence and musical independence over time.
  • Identify practical strategies to scaffold learning for all pupils while maintaining high expectations.
  • Consider a range of approaches to balancing creative development with examination requirements.
  • Analyse and discuss different curriculum models, identifying strengths and opportunities for refinement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to review and develop their own KS4 curriculum maps and schemes of work.
  • Share ideas, resources and approaches that support coherent progression and successful student outcomes.
  • Leave with practical curriculum adaptations and next steps to strengthen their KS4 provision.

Please bring your current KS4 curriculum map and schemes of work, as these will be used to facilitate discussion and compare approaches in a collaborative way.
