Description

This session will be led by Cristina Ferrari, Music Lead at Ladypool Primary School and Sarah Camwell, Music Lead at St. Laurence Church Junior School.

Primary music leads will:

  • Explore how the National Curriculum and Model Music Curriculum support the teaching of foundational music theory.
  • Develop practical approaches to teaching rhythm, notation and the key elements of music.
  • Use simple formative assessment strategies, including diagnostic listening during whole-class performances.
  • Take away adaptable classroom resources, including rhythm grids, music theory activities and assessment ideas.

This session is ideal for both new and experienced Primary Music Leads, as well as teachers looking to strengthen their confidence in teaching the fundamentals of music theory.
