We work with schools and educational institutions across the country to improve teaching and music provision from Primary through to Higher Education. Deputy Head of the Music Service, Services For Education – BMus (Hons), PGCE, HonRBC
Adam graduated from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (formerly Birmingham Conservatoire) in 2008 with a BMus (Hons) degree where he studied classical guitar with Mark Ashford and Mark Eden. Upon graduation, Adam completed a PGCE in Primary Education at Birmingham City University and has since worked as a peripatetic music teacher and is currently Deputy Head of Music Service at Services For Education.
He has also worked as an External Examiner at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and coordinates and lectures on music education modules at both Birmingham City University and The University of Birmingham. In June 2019, Adam was awarded Honorary Membership of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in recognition of his work in the field of music education. Adam is active as a conductor and ensemble director through his work with the Birmingham Schools’ Training Guitar Ensemble and the National Youth Guitar Ensemble.

Lead Practitioner of the Music Service, Services For Education
Tim Baptiste began his musical experiences as part of the Youth Symphony Orchestra, Big Band and Brass Band in his local area. At this point in his early career, he was also invited to tour with the European Youth Brass Ensemble playing in a number of prestigious venues. Tim studied the trombone and second study sackbutt at the Birmingham Conservatoire where he was awarded the CBSO training scheme prize at the end of his first year of study. He played in a variety of ensembles including the early music ensemble, Brass Band Symphony Orchestra and Big Band. While studying at Music College, Tim was invited to play with the New English Orchestra on tour to the Salzburg Music Festival.
Upon graduating from the Birmingham Conservative with Bmus (Hons), he continued his studies to gain a PGCE before obtaining the post of Music teacher in a local Secondary school. In his experience as a classroom teacher, he held roles in the pastoral team as an Assistant Head of Year, Music Teacher and P.E. teacher before joining the Birmingham Music Service in 2001. He has always enjoyed being at the forefront of pedagogical practice, playing an Integral part of the National Secondary Strategy pilot and the trial of the Birmingham Music Service Whole Class Instrumental Teaching Scheme. Tim was awarded Advanced Skills Teacher status in 2004 and is currently a Lead Practitioner within Services For Education. In this role, he has been invited to present for numerous audiences including the NAME conference on WCIT, the West Midlands Music Service Forum, the Midland Education Research Centre and BCMG. He enjoys a close working relationship with the Birmingham City University and was awarded an MA in education in 2016 which included a paper on integrating ICT into instrumental teaching and Leadership in Education.
