Trinity Music Grade Exam

These examinations are accredited by Trinity College, London and are recognised by the QCA (Qualifications and Curriculum Agency). Success with examinations for grade 6 and above are also awarded UCAS points, which may be used when applying to further level education at universities and colleges.

This year examinations will be held on Wednesday 4th, Thursday 5th, Friday 6th and Saturday 7th (Percussion only) July. They will be held at the following venues:

Main Exams
Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Birmingham City University,
200 Jennens Road,
B4 7XR
Percussion Only
Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School,
Lichfield Road,
Sutton Coldfield,
B74 2NH

The Trinity exam board set their fees for exams annually. This fee does not include the cost of an accompanist (pianist) to play for the students and this is a compulsory part of the exam.

This year, in order to simplify the process and reduce cost for parents, the Music Service is adding a surcharge of £15 to each Grade 1-5 exam so that we can provide an accompanist for your child to rehearse and perform with on the day of the exam, as required.

There will be an opportunity for pupils taking grade 6 – 8 to have a rehearsal with the pianist on Sunday 17th June and Saturday 23rd June (Percussion only) (individual rehearsal times to be arranged) and this is reflected in the surcharge of £20 to Grade 6-8 exam fees, which covers the rehearsal and exam accompaniment.

Disclaimer: In accordance with Trinity College London regulations, exam fees are only refundable in the case of sickness where a doctor’s note is provided.
